「TENKAI」coffee table & Side table
屏風のシステムを応用してテーブルに仕立てた新しい発想の作品です。仕上げには、京都西陣帯で使われている焼箔や越前和紙を使用しています。両テーブルはコンパクトに折りたため、簡単に持ち運び可能です。

These novel pieces are the result of an idea to use the structure of a traditional folding screen for items that could serve as tables. The finish is made from Echizen washi and the yakihaku silver leaf that is best known as a decorative material for Kyoto Nishijin kimono sashes. Both tables can be folded and made compact, for easy transportation.

A graduate of ENSCI-Les Ateliers and of Fine Arts in Nîmes, Pierre Charrié has built up solid experience in product design by collaborating with creative agencies for various clients.
Examining emerging technologies and uses, he is carrying out research on the sensory dimension of everyday objects. He is interested in the way in which sound, movement or touch involve the user in a tangible interaction with the object.
